Meredith Nnoka
Teaching Artist
Meredith is a Chicago-based writer and educator originally from Southern Maryland. They have a BA from Smith College and an MA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, both in Africana studies. They have published two chapbooks of poems and have received fellowships from Illinois Humanities and the Prison + Neighborhood Arts/Education Project. They have taught poetry and songwriting for over a decade, including in Central Virginia, Nashville, Madison, and at Stateville Correctional Center in Joliet, IL. Meredith believes in the writing classroom as a space to forge community, build trust, repair harm, and encourage artistic vulnerability. They’re thrilled and honored to be joining the teaching artist staff at Storycatchers.
