I am an ethnodramatist, stage director, community organizer, and teacher. I co-founded documentary theatre ensemble Waltzing Mechanics, where my original interview-based productions include EL Stories, Over My Dead Body, and The Right of Way. I have also worked locally with Broken Nose, Rivendell, The Ruckus, Ka-Tet, A Red Orchid, The Arc, Prologue, Strangeloop, Next, City Lit, and Steppenwolf. I am a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab, a Sackler Fellow with the National Academy of Sciences, and a recipient of the Outstanding Young Alumnus Award from Ball State University. I have studied intensively with Ping Chong + Company, Free Street Theater, Elevator Repair Service, and Sojourn Theatre. I hold an MFA in Directing and Public Dialogue from Virginia Tech.
