In keeping with recommendations from the CDC and the State of Illinois, and in accord with many of our peer organizations serving Chicago, we are regretfully cancelling the Annual Benefit Brunch scheduled for April 18. We make this decision out of concern for the health and well-being of our most generous supporters, as this event typically draws close to 200 people in close quarters.

We are exploring possibilities for rescheduling and are considering dates in June, but cannot offer an alternative date at this time. We are communicating directly with those who purchased tickets to explain the situation and will be sending out an eblast to our full list later today with an update regarding the status of our programs and public events.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me at if you have questions or concerns. We appreciate the insight and patience you have provided as we worked towards this decision.

Thanks as always for your support.

Step out to honor Chicago Beyond with this year’s Storycatching Award.

As one of our biggest allies, Chicago Beyond’s unique investment of both capital and consult has been instrumental in our recent growth. Their commitment to our mission, staff, and young people has enabled Storycatchers to strengthen and grow the impact of existing programs while empowering us to have an inspiring vision for further growth.

Step up to celebrate the remarkable journey that these young people are making.

Young people come who come to Storycatchers defy the statistics. Rather than repeat the mistakes of the past, these young heroes find the inner strength they need to face old demons and forge new pathways.

This gala is about uncovering the joy and success of hard work and determination. About those who have helped youth navigate obstacles to that success. Don’t miss one of the happiest days of our year.

Join us as friends, supporters and allies to their journeys.

Here’s a sneak peak at our live auction items.

In-home dinner prepared by Executive Chef Tilon of Casati’s.

Amazing food. Good company. No doing dishes.

Chef Tilon of Casati’s in Lincoln Park meshes the light, fresh, and healthy food traditions of Florence into an array of dishes that excites and delights.

Expect to have a unique dining experience for up to six people in the comfort of your own home.

Six bottles of delectable, collectable wine.

Bid on six (6) bottles of Shafer Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon – in four different vintages. Robert Parker can’t seem to find enough ways to say how fabulous these wines really are. Drinkable now… and decades from now. Read more about these special wines.

In-home pastry lesson from Master Chef Chris Williams.

Before creating dreams with Whole Foods and running a catering business, Chris was personally responsible for making many of The Walnut Room’s iconic Pot Pies. The affable and French-trained Chris Williams will come to your house and teach up to eight people how to make flaky crusts and delicious cake – and you get to eat the creations.

I’ve talked to so many of the people who have performed in Storycatchers shows, and you know from talking to them that Storycatchers has meant so much to them…a number of the young people who have been in the shows have told me how it really changed their life….Honestly it’s been really inspiring to know the stage that you were at when I first met you [20 years ago] when you were really small and scrappy and now you’re giving employment to 72 young people.
