“What You Really Want?” Staged Reading

“What you really want?” That’s the question the heroes of our stories ask themselves. What choice do you make when the girl you love tries to point you in the right direction, but you’re getting pressure from the streets? Do you take revenge when someone steals something from you? What happens when your mom says you have to go to school, but you and your siblings have other plans?

With twelve stories, 6 songs, a birthday celebration and two surprising encounters with the police, “What You Really Want” features the writing of more than a dozen residents of the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center, performed by the authors.
