Sharena Sigmon

Teaching Artist – Temporary LockDown

Sharena Sigmon is a film critic, screenwriter, and filmmaker from the Southside of Chicago. She graduated with a BA in Fiction Writing from Columbia College Chicago and then focused on adapting screenplays in Los Angeles. In 2020, she earned her MFA in Writing for the Screen and Stage from Northwestern University, where her thesis screenplay won first place in a screenwriting competition. Sharena’s films and writing has been published in Dialogue Magazine, Harness Magazine, LGBT Lit Fest Blog, Bright Wall Dark Room, Hear Us Scream, Certified Forgotten, the 13 Horror Screenwriter Competition, The Chicago Horror Film Festival and the Chicago Film Office’s Social Justice Screenwriting Competition. Currently, she is undergoing training to become a licensed counselor, aiming to support children from underprivileged communities.
