Storycatchers first met Janice in 2017, when she decided to attend the Benefit Brunch & Performance at The Casino that year. She has been a good friend and generous supporter ever since. In 2022, The Joseph and Bessie Feinberg Foundation was the lead event sponsor for our summertime Celebration of Possibilities and Potential. The foundation has continued its support by sponsoring the 2023 Reasons for Optimism Benefit as well.

As President of The Joseph & Bessie Feinberg Foundation, Janice works with her fellow trustees – her brother, Joseph Feinberg, and Joe’s wife, Rhonda – to support organizations that address unmet human and social needs. Like Storycatchers, the Feinberg Foundation is committed to equity and social justice.

Since taking over the direction of the Foundation, Janice, Joe, and Rhonda have significantly expanded its philanthropic scope, continuing a long legacy of philanthropy that began in 1969 when brothers Louis, Samuel, Reuben, and Bernard Feinberg established the foundation to honor the memory of their parents. “Several years ago, we made a strategic decision to fund organizations that are on the ground providing direct service to people in their communities, recognizing that those people working in the communities know best what the community needs, and that they are frequently the kind of organizations that aren’t getting philanthropic dollars from other sources,” Janice explains.

We asked Janice about her commitment to Storycatchers. She replied,

“The Feinberg Foundation supports Storycatchers Theatre because its programs benefit incarcerated youth and youth re-entering their communities after court involvement.  These young people are often marginalized and traumatized, and Storycatchers helps them find their voice, reclaim their dignity, and see a path to success post-incarceration. Once you’ve seen these youth perform and get a chance to meet them, you see they are just children who deserve our investment.”

Thank you, Janice, for recognizing and sharing our commitment to the young people we serve. We couldn’t do it without you.
