FABULOUS FEMALES NEW SCHEDULE ACCOMMODATES PAROLE BOARD

Posted: 5/4/2009

"We have rearranged the production and performance schedule of the summer and fall sessions of Fabulous Females (FF)," announced Meade Palidofsky, MTW Artistic Director. "We'll be able to accommodate more participants and more audience members by changing the performance dates for both the FF Musical Preview in August and the FF Musical in November."
The Writer's Group of the FF ensemble will spend the early part of the summer writing the final scenes and songs for the new musical. At the end of July, an additional group of performers will join the ensemble to rehearse songs and dances for the FF Musical Preview on Saturday August 15. Residents and staff of the facility will attend the final dress rehearsal of the Preview that week.
On November 10, 12, 14 and 15, the ensemble will present the new, fully produced one-act musical. The fall dates are a week earlier in the calendar than previous years.
"The change of schedule will allow residents to participate without worrying about a conflict with the parole board," Palidofsky explained. "In previous years, it was not unusual for participants to dash off stage to get to their parole hearing or to receive parole and then miss the final performances. This schedule will work better for everyone. We've also moved further away from the Thanksgiving weekend. That makes it easier for community members and participant families to attend. "
Audience members at the November 10 and 12 performances will be able to enjoy lunch with the cast following each performance. Nancy McCarty, MTW Executive Director, is coordinating group reservations for those performances. "This is an opportunity for community members to gain some real insight into the lives of incarcerated girls," McCarty said. "We have hosted some wonderfully gracious and generous groups over the last three years. Anyone interested in participating in the fall event should call or email me at, 773.973.7266 or nmccarty@mtwchicago.org."
