Summer Theatre Ensemble - Teens Together on tour
The Summer Theatre Ensemble is the culminating event of the year-long Teens Together program series. The Summer Theatre Ensemble offers teens a performing arts experience designed to help them reflect on their relationships, actions and life choices. Rehearsals and community performances for the 2010 summer take place at St. Matthew, 1000 N. Orleans Ave. The ensemble will tour Chicago parks and community centers in July.
These skills will be put to use when the teen's tour a musical theatre play that is performed throughout the summer for audiences made up of thousands of people. Hundreds of younger summer campers become integral to rehearsals by providing performance feedback and serving as role-play development partners, helping to strengthen the performance skills of the Ensemble. This interaction leads to mentorship opportunities as the Ensemble members learn how to be ambassadors to surrounding communities.
The Summer Theatre Ensemble connects communities and promoting diversity. Audience members for the play range from YMCAs, Boys & Girls Clubs, and other parks-from Evanston to Abbott Park and all points in between. The Summer Theatre Ensemble makes a point of connecting communities and promoting diversity.
