Nancy McCarty - Executive Director


Nancy McCartyNancy McCarty is the Executive Director of Storycatchers Theatre. Nancy has a Masters of Education Degree from Loyola University Chicago. She did her undergraduate work in theatre production, design and technology at Northern Illinois University. Nancy came up through the Chicago Off-Loop Theatre scene; first as prop master at the St. Nicholas Theatre then as a stage manager, technical director and production manager for various theatres, films and special events including The Chicago International Theatre Festival, the Auditorium Theatre, Steppenwolf Theatre, the Chicago Humanities Festival, the Chicago Jazz Festival, the Chicago Triathlon and Walt Disney's animated feature, Dinosaur. In her current position, she also serves as production manager and art director for all Storycatchers productions.

Nancy came to Storycatchers following five years as a fifth grade and Drama teacher in the Chicago Public Schools. She and Storycatchers Artistic Director, Meade Palidofsky, became acquainted while working together on several Storycatchers Arts in-Education residencies. Both believe that the process of writing and producing theatre can help teach young people to think critically and creatively, as well as, develop empathy, self-confidence, self discipline and problem solving skills.
