On May 16, the Fabulous Females Ensemble of the Illinois Youth Center–Warrenville (IYC-W) will present a staged reading of current works-in-progress. The performance will begin at 12:30pm in the Sheila Kalish Memorial Theatre at IYC-W. An informal reception with the cast and audience will follow. Admission is free. Reservations are required and can be made here.

This year the Fabulous Females are tackling issues of trust. They began the year by defining what actions cause feelings of betrayal, and what actions help to build and re-build trust. The girls then spent the first session writing about experiences of lies, theft, dishonesty, and abandonment. Their March 7 staged reading, entitled BROKEN, included three original songs that detailed the girls’ anger at failed relationships and their longing for reunion and renewal of family bonds and love. During the second session, culminating in a staged reading on May 16, the girls will explore the paths to restoring faith in themselves and their connections to others.
