Teaching artist Diana Lawrence, composer for Storycatchers’ Temporary LockDown program at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center, recently created the original music for the critically acclaimed new Tracy Letts play at Steppenwolf, Mary Page Marlowe. This was Ms. Lawrence’s first time working on a Steppenwolf mainstage production. Her impressive list of credits includes a multi-playwright collaborative musical, Next Stop, performed at the 2013 Garage Rep After-Party; and her new musical, Mill Girls, showcased at the 2015 First Look Late Night. Diana also regularly composes for The Second City as well as Storycatchers.

When not focusing on original material, she works as a singer, pianist and music director with organizations such as The Chicago Symphony Chorus, The Chicago Children’s Choir, Porchlight Music Theatre, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. As a performing songwriter, Diana has been called a “drop-dead show-stopper” by Music Connection Magazine. Storycatchers Theatre is proud of the depth and diversity of talent in the company’s community of dedicated teaching artists.
