MORE SUMMER. LESS VIOLENCE.
For the past few weeks, our posts featuring the plea above have been some of the most shared messages in Storycatchers’ history. We all understand what’s at stake. Violence affects everyone.
Thank you for reading this email and learning more about what these four words mean to us.

Two different Chicago summers.
Most Chicagoans experience summer as lakefront beaches, vibrant street festivals, neighborhood block parties, and lush green parks. But others dread the warmer weather, knowing that the heartbreaking violence statistics will relentlessly tick upward. Our young people feel safe when they are working with us, but say…
“I can’t tell you what’s going to happen to me when I go home.”
Many of us wonder – can anything be done? Yes. And Storycatchers Theatre is doing it.
The Changing Voices impact.
Coming of age in prison.
Storycatchers’ teenagers often grow up in unsafe environments, reach maturity within the prison system, and are released back into the same dangerous circumstances. But in our kids, we see resilience and hope for a better future.
Storycatchers’ youth are discovering their potential and it is limitless.
What we need from you.
We want to fill 32 paid jobs all summer long, giving the youth of Chicago a productive alternative to violence. To stay on track this summer, we need to raise an additional $30,000 before the end of August. Please use the enclosed response card to make a tax-deductible gift.
Will you help us lift the violent shadow that looms over Chicago’s summer?
